Overview

Discover the best kept of Florence on this memorable tour.

The Ponte Vecchio, the landmark of Florence, houses a private passageway, dating back to the 1564, when the Grand Duke of Florence ordered his favourite architect, Giorgio Vasari, to built a path that would allow him and the Royal family to move freely from their residence to the government palace.

Hidden between city houses and even passing through a church, the Vasari Corridor has evolved as one of the most astounding architectural masterpieces of the Renaissance. Enjoy a guided external tour of the corridor and learn about its fascinating history.

Enjoy a guided tour of the world-famous Uffizi gallery, skipping the usual long lines. Admire superb paintings by Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Giotto, Cimabue and Masaccio.

Make your way to the local activity operator’s office where an English-speaking guide will accompany you on the tour.

Your first stop for the day is The Ponte Vecchio, also known as the ‘Old Bridge’. The medieval bridge joins the centre of the city with the district of Oltrarno on the south bank of the River Arno. In 1564, the bridge also served as a passageway for the Duke of Florence to move freely from his residence to the government palace.

Moving forward, you will visit the world-famous Uffizi Gallery, which houses masterpieces of renowned artists such as Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Giotto, Cimabue and Masaccio. Walk past the long queues with your skip-the-line access and enjoy a comprehensive guided tour of the main rooms.

Next, proceed towards the Vasari Corridor, one of the most astounding architectural masterpieces of the Renaissance. Your guide will take you on an in-depth external tour of the corridor, cutting the old town and following the footsteps of the Medici’s family’s enemies.

The tour ends at Palazzo Pitti.

We chose this tour for the chance to walk the Vasari corridor, otherwise closed to the public. I must say, the corridor has been the best part, but I felt the uffizi g as llery has been rushed and we didn't get to see some of the most important masterpieces (ie: the Venus by Botticelli ), so I felt as bit disappointed for the price paid.
