You will walk out onto the Golden Gate Bridge where you will have fantastic views of the city skyline. Your guide will tell you the history and lore of what is probably the most photographed bridge in the world.
You will hike away from the Bridge and explore the historic battery sites along the shore. You then walk further along the Pacific Coast while pelicans soar overhead and barges and sailboats glide into the Bay. During your hike, the Bridge will often come back into view for a variety of perspectives and superb photo opportunities.
Along the rugged coastline you can enjoy exhilarating cliff top views of the crashing surf from overlooks like Land’s End and Eagle’s Point. Throughout the walk, your leader will provide insight into the area’s history, folklore and abundance of natural life.
Take a 30-minute walk alongBaker Beach to put your toes in the ocean, mix with locals taking a break from city life or chat with fishermen casting lines. Climb the steps into Sea Cliff, San Francisco’s most exclusive neighbourhood, where you will stroll among mansions, manicured gardens and fine architecture.
Drop down to the edge of the Pacific to explore the crumbling ruins of the once magnificent Sutro Baths. This extravagant public bathhouse opened in 1896 with a USD $ 1 million price tag, brainchild of the wealthy and eccentric one-time mayor of San Francisco, Adolph Sutro. After surviving through many incarnations (Playland, 1960s ice rink, etc) the complex burned down in 1966.
After viewing the Baths, watch the sun sink down on the Pacific.
