The Kowloon Markets Walking Tour introduces you to the best of Kowloon’s traditional markets. On this walking tour, you’ll discover vibrant markets where the locals have shopped for over a century.

We kick things off on a fragrant note at the Flower Market. This vibrant and colourful street market consists of more than 50 shops and is a jungle of exotic blossoms and sweet scents. Next, it’s onto the nearby Yuen Po Street Bird Garden, a charming Chinese-style garden with songbird stalls, traditional Chinese courtyards and moon gates. Soak up the peaceful surrounds and listen to the sound of thousands of birds - it’s easy to forget about the crazy city streets that lie just outside the gates.

We will orientate ourselves, learning where Kowloon ends and the New Territories begin, and how to get to mainland China. Also we check out a mountain that is a true Hong Kong landmark and symbol.

Visit a popular local street market where vendors sell bargain-priced clothes, bags and accessories. Perhaps try out your bargaining skills. Also we learn about Mong Kok, the world’s most densely populated neighbourhood with over 130,000 people per square kilometre! We explore the newly built five-star Langham Place hotel and mall and its impact on the surrounding neighbourhood, before reaching Shanghai Street.

See the largest cluster ruins of Tong Lau buildings that focuses on Cantonese tenement architecture along with the mix of western design. Know more about these structures and why still this place remains a famous must visit.

Next up, stroll through the Goldfish Street and get to know why they make the most popular pets in the city. Admire exotic fish and tortoises and see some impressive works of aqua-scaping.
