Travel by coach to a famous cottage at the entrance to the celebrated Gap of Dunloe. Then leave motorized transport behind and go by pony, trap, or ‘Shank’s Pony’ (foot) through the rocky glen. Look for evidence of glacial action on the hillsides, in the form of striae and ice-moulded rocks. The towering summits of the McGillycuddy Reeks, the changing shadows on the Purple and Tomies mountains and the silence and solitude of the landscape all combine to make an unforgettable impression.
After a rest and lunch, board a boat for a magical journey through the Lakes of Killarney to Ross Castle.
On the way, your guides will entertain you with plenty of stories and folklore, plus a fair bit of Irish ‘blarney’ and humor!
